It's been widely reported that Bored Ape Yacht Club creator Yuga Labs signed a deal with leading Hollywood agent Guy Oseary.

When asked about the deal, Oseary focused on two points. One, he views Apes as huge celebrities (like YouTube stars, famous athletes, etc.). Two, Ape owners can tap directly into this celebrity because Ape owners are granted IP rights.
“Many people still have not heard of Yuga, yet they are one of the highest-grossing talents of the year from any artform, including music and film,” says Oseary in announcing the deal, which will see opportunities across media platforms, including film, TV, music, gaming and more. “They are originals, empowering their community of NFT holders by giving them IP rights to their purchased ape, and continually creating ways to add benefits and utility to the purchased artwork. The Apes at Yuga Labs and I have a lot of exciting initiatives for the community and we look forward to sharing them soon.”
Assume that Oseary is right and Bored Apes (& Mutants & Doggos) will be huge media stars. What does that mean for their value? Media assets are notoriously tricky to value, because so much depends on audience preferences (which can change fast), and because media assets are not as liquid as many traditional/tangible assets, and for other reasons. But think about it like this. What if Apes are the next Iron Man, or the next Yoda? What if Mutants are the next Joker, or the next Darth Vader? What's a reasonable price to be able to use the Iron Man IP for your own content/products/projects? Is it more or less than the current Ape floor?
There are lots of ways you might try to value Apes, and you see people talk about these all the time, such as future utility of BAYC membership, value of future BAYC token, etc. But don't forget about IP rights. BAYC signing with Guy Oseary tells you all you need to know about how much Hollywood thinks of the potential value of Bored Ape Yacht Club IP.
